AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate (formerly SysOps Administrator)

There are no formal prerequisites, although the following will help you get the most from the course:

• Working knowledge of systems or cloud administration
• Familiarity with core cloud computing concepts
• Comfort at the command line on Linux or Windows
• Basic understanding of networking, including TCP/IP and DNS

We recommend attending the AWS Technical Essentials Course before attending this course.

Candidates can achieve this certification by passing the following exam(s).

• AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate (SOA-C03)

This is the current version of the certification. AWS retired the previous AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate (SOA-C02) on 29 September 2025, so SOA-C03 is the exam to sit. The exam runs for 130 minutes, has 65 multiple choice or multiple response questions, and is booked through Pearson VUE either at a test centre or online proctored. The exam fee is not included in the course price.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

• Use Amazon EC2 to provision, monitor, scale and distribute compute infrastructure
• Build Amazon VPC resources such as subnets, route tables, network access control lists and security groups
• Deploy and manage container workloads using Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS and Amazon ECR
• Use Amazon CloudWatch, CloudTrail and AWS Config to monitor health, track activity and audit resources
• Automate provisioning and operations with AWS CloudFormation and AWS Systems Manager
• Back up and recover AWS and on premise resources using AWS services
• Configure high availability with Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon Route 53 and Auto Scaling
• Apply security controls and manage access with AWS Identity and Access Management
• Use resource tagging and AWS Cost Explorer to allocate, control and optimise cloud spend across multiple accounts

What is the AWS CloudOps Engineer Associate certification?
It is the current name for what was the AWS SysOps Administrator Associate. AWS renamed it in September 2025 to reflect modern cloud operations. The skills and the career path are the same, with containers and multi account architectures now added to the exam.

Is the SysOps certification still valid?
Yes. If you already hold the AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate, it stays valid until its expiry date. The new name applies to people who pass the current SOA-C03 exam.

How long is the course and how is it delivered?
The course runs over three days full time or three weeks part time. It is delivered in person in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane classrooms, and live online in real time across the rest of Australia including Adelaide, Perth and Canberra, with in house delivery available at your premises.

Is the exam fee included?
No. The AWS exam fee is paid directly to AWS and booked through Pearson VUE. You can sit the exam at Logitrain as a local test centre, at another VUE centre, or online proctored.
