CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+) Course

CompTIA SecurityX suits people moving into or already working in senior security roles. It supports work as a security architect, senior security engineer, security consultant, information assurance specialist and security administrator. It is also one of the certifications recognised under several government and defence security frameworks, which makes it useful for roles that require a baseline credential.

There are no specific prerequisites, but CompTIA recommends the following before you attempt SecurityX:

• Around ten years of general hands on IT experience
• At least five years of hands on security experience
• Knowledge equivalent to CompTIA Network+, Security+, CySA+, Cloud+ and PenTest+

There is no certification exam associated with this training course.

Is CompTIA SecurityX the same as CASP+?
Yes. CompTIA renamed CASP+ to SecurityX as part of its Xpert series. It is the same advanced security certification with an updated exam, CAS-005. If you already hold CASP+, CompTIA updated your badge to SecurityX automatically and you do not need to re-sit.

Has CASP+ been retired?
The old CASP+ exam, CAS-004, was withdrawn on 17 June 2025 and can no longer be taken. The current exam is CAS-005, the SecurityX version, which is what this course prepares you for.

What are the prerequisites for SecurityX?
There are no compulsory prerequisites. CompTIA recommends about ten years of general IT experience, at least five years in hands on security, and knowledge equivalent to Network+, Security+, CySA+, Cloud+ and PenTest+. If you are not there yet, we can help you plan a path.

Is the exam included in the course fee?
Yes. The official CAS-005 exam is included. You can sit it at a Logitrain test centre, another Pearson VUE centre or online, within three months of finishing the course.

Where can I do the course?

How long is the course and what schedules are available?
Five days full time on weekdays, with part time weeknight and weekend options also available.
