AWS Certified AI Practitioner is a foundational Amazon Web Services certification that validates knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, generative AI concepts and AWS AI services.
AWS AI Certification Training for the AIF-C01 Exam
The AWS Certified AI Practitioner course follows AWS exam guide for AIF-C01. It adds agentic AI, the Model Context Protocol, Kiro, Strands Agents and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to the syllabus. Training will help prepare candidates for the AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) exam.
What the Course Covers
The course opens with AI and machine learning fundamentals: the core terminology, the types of learning and inferencing, the stages of an AI and ML pipeline, and the model and business metrics used to judge a model. It then covers generative AI, including tokens, embeddings, vectors, transformer-based large language models, token-based pricing, and the advantages and limitations of foundation models. The largest domain, at 28 per cent of the exam, covers applications of foundation models, including Retrieval Augmented Generation with Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, vector databases on AWS, zero-shot, few-shot and chain-of-thought prompting, fine-tuning, and model evaluation with ROUGE, BLEU and BERTScore. The course closes with responsible AI and with security, compliance and governance for AI solutions, including Amazon Bedrock Guardrails, Amazon SageMaker Model Cards, prompt injection and the Generative AI Security Scoping Matrix.
AWS Services in the Syllabus
The exam guide lists 51 in-scope AWS services and features, 14 of them in the machine learning category, including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker AI, SageMaker JumpStart, Amazon Nova, Amazon Comprehend, Amazon Lex, Amazon Polly, Amazon Rekognition, Amazon Textract, Amazon Transcribe and Amazon Translate. The course covers what these services do and where each one fits in an AI solution. It does not include programming, as AWS places the coding of AI and ML models outside the scope of the exam.
Related AWS and AI Courses
Logitrain also runs the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner course and the AWS Technical Essentials course at the entry level, and the AWS Solutions Architect Associate course at the associate level. Prompt design is taught on its own in the prompt engineering course, and the machine learning pipeline is the subject of The Machine Learning Pipeline on AWS course.
Logitrain has been delivering high-quality, cost-effective training since 2004.
AWS describes the AWS Certified AI Practitioner as a credential that validates foundational knowledge of AI, ML and generative AI concepts, use cases and AWS AI services. It is aimed at candidates who use AI and ML technologies on AWS without necessarily building them. It sits in the Foundational category alongside the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner. AWS notes that the Cloud Practitioner exam outline contains a single AI task statement, while the AI Practitioner outline is given over entirely to AI, ML and generative AI. The AWS Certified AI Business Strategist covers business judgement for AI decisions and does not assess knowledge of AWS AI services. AWS lists the Solutions Architect Associate as the recommended next certification for cloud roles, and the Data Engineer Associate and Machine Learning Engineer Associate for data, AI and machine learning roles. The certification is valid for three years, and earning the Machine Learning Engineer Associate recertifies it automatically.
AWS sets no mandatory prerequisite for the AIF-C01 exam. It recommends up to six months of exposure to AI and ML technologies on AWS, and familiarity with:
- core AWS services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker AI
- the AWS shared responsibility model for security and compliance
- AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- AWS service pricing models
No programming or statistics background is assumed, since AWS lists coding AI and ML models and the mathematical or statistical analysis of models as outside the exam.
AWS names foundational cloud training as the starting point for candidates new to IT or AWS, which Logitrain runs as the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner course and the AWS Technical Essentials course. Candidates who already hold the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or an Associate AWS certification can start with this course.
Candidates can achieve this certification by passing the following exam.
