TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation (OGEA-101) Course in Australia

TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation Certification

TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation Certification

The TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation is an instructor-led, hands-on certification course that gives you a working understanding of enterprise architecture using the TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition. It prepares you for the OGEA-101: TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Part 1 Exam, and passing that exam earns you the globally recognised TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation qualification from The Open Group. The course covers the core concepts of enterprise architecture, the Architecture Development Method (ADM) and its phases, the techniques used to apply and adapt the ADM, architecture governance, architecture content, and the way the Enterprise Continuum and Architecture Repository hold an organisation’s architecture together. It suits people who are starting in architecture as well as experienced professionals who want a shared language and a credential that employers across Australia recognise.

This is the foundation level of the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture stream, so there are no prerequisites and it is the right place to start before moving on to the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner certification. If your focus is the business side of architecture, the TOGAF Business Architecture Foundation course is a parallel option, and the ArchiMate 3 Foundation modelling course teaches the modelling language that many TOGAF practitioners use alongside the framework.

Where you can train

Train in person in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, or attend live online from Adelaide, Perth, Canberra or anywhere else in Australia, all delivered live in real time with a trainer. You can study full-time over two days, part-time on weeknights, or part-time across two Saturdays, whichever fits your work.

Logitrain has trained over 15,000 professionals since 2004, and the official OGEA-101 exam fee is included in the course price, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.

Why get TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation certified

TOGAF is the most widely used enterprise architecture framework, and the Foundation certification proves you understand its concepts, terminology and the Architecture Development Method well enough to contribute to an architecture project or work with its results. It is the recognised starting point on the architecture career path, it is a prerequisite step towards the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner credential, and it gives architects, analysts and managers a common language for describing how business and technology fit together. Because it is vendor-neutral and based on the current TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition, the credential travels with you across industries and roles.

Why train with Logitrain

The official OGEA-101 exam fee is included in the course price, so there is no separate exam bill to budget for later. You keep the digital course material, full-time courses include a mock test to help you prepare, and our price beat guarantee means we will beat any competitor’s advertised price on the same training. Logitrain is an authorised Pearson VUE test centre, so you can sit your exam with us, at any other Pearson VUE centre, or online through OnVUE proctoring. Choose in-person training in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, or join the same course live online from anywhere in Australia, with experienced trainers and high-quality facilities behind you.

There are no prerequisites for the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation certification training course. The Open Group sets no formal entry requirements for the OGEA-101 exam, so anyone can enrol and sit it.

Some prior exposure to IT, business analysis or project work makes the material easier to absorb, and a basic familiarity with how organisations use technology is helpful, but none of this is required. If you are deciding where to begin, this Foundation course is the correct first step before the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner level.

Candidates can achieve this certification by passing the following exam.

  • OGEA-101: TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Part 1 Exam, leading to the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation certification

You can book and sit the exam within three months of finishing your course. Sit it at the Logitrain test centre, at any other Pearson VUE test centre, or online through Pearson VUE online proctoring from a private space.

Exam format: 40 multiple choice questions, 60 minutes, closed book and supervised, with a passing score of 60 per cent, which is 24 out of 40 questions. OGEA-101 is the current exam and is based on the TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition. It replaces the older TOGAF 9 Part 1 (OG0-091) Foundation exam.

What is the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Foundation certification?

It is the entry-level certification in The Open Group’s TOGAF Enterprise Architecture stream. It confirms you understand enterprise architecture concepts, the TOGAF Standard and the Architecture Development Method well enough to contribute to an architecture project or work with its results. You earn it by passing the OGEA-101 exam.

Is the OGEA-101 exam included in the course fee?

Yes. The official OGEA-101 exam fee is included in the Logitrain course price. You can book and sit it within three months of finishing your course, at the Logitrain test centre, any other Pearson VUE centre, or online through Pearson VUE proctoring.

Are there any prerequisites for this course?

No. There are no prerequisites for the course or the OGEA-101 exam. Some exposure to IT, business analysis or project work makes the material easier, but none of it is required.

Which version of TOGAF does this course cover?

The course covers the current TOGAF Standard, 10th Edition, often searched as TOGAF 10. The OGEA-101 exam is the current Part 1 exam and replaced the older TOGAF 9 Foundation exam.

How long is the course?

It runs over two days full-time on weekdays. If you study part-time, it runs across two Saturdays on weekends, or over a series of weeknight sessions, so you can keep working while you train.

Where can I attend the TOGAF training?

In person in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and live online across Australia, including Adelaide, Perth and Canberra. Every session is delivered live in real time with a trainer.

How much does TOGAF certification cost in Australia?

The Logitrain course starts from $1,799 with the official OGEA-101 exam included. The OGEA-101 exam on its own costs around $630 in Australian dollars including GST when bought separately, so having it bundled removes a later expense. Our price beat guarantee means we will beat any competitor’s advertised price on the same training.

What is the format of the OGEA-101 exam?

It is 40 multiple choice questions over 60 minutes, closed book and supervised, with a passing score of 60 per cent, which is 24 out of 40 questions.

Should I take the Enterprise Architecture Foundation or the Business Architecture Foundation first?

They are separate foundations and you do not have to do one before the other. Choose the Enterprise Architecture Foundation (OGEA-101) if you want the broad architecture framework and a path towards the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner credential. Choose the Business Architecture Foundation (OGBA-101) if your focus is business architecture, capabilities, value streams and business modelling.

What comes after the Foundation certification?

The next step is the TOGAF Enterprise Architecture Practitioner certification. Once you hold the Foundation qualification you can sit the Part 2 exam (OGEA-102), or you can take the combined Part 1 and Part 2 exam (OGEA-103) in a single sitting.

Is TOGAF certification worth it?

For people working in or moving into architecture, it is one of the most recognised credentials available and a common requirement on enterprise and solution architect roles. It gives you a shared language with other architects and a clear path to the Practitioner level.
