CompTIA Tech+ is the entry point into a career in technology, and it is the certification that used to be called IT Fundamentals, or ITF+. CompTIA renamed it and refreshed the content with the FC0-U71 exam, so if you have been looking at IT Fundamentals or ITF+, this is the current version of that same starting certification.
Tech+ is built for people who are new to IT, whether you are a student, a career changer, or someone in a tech-adjacent role who wants to understand the technology around you. It gives you a broad, practical grounding across the main areas of IT rather than going deep into any one of them. You will cover core IT concepts and terminology, infrastructure and computing devices, applications and software, the basics of software development, data and databases, and fundamental security concepts.
It is a sensible first step before CompTIA A+ and the rest of the certification pathway. Our course prepares you for the current FC0-U71 exam and includes the official exam fee, and no prior experience is needed to start.
There are no prerequisites. Tech+ is designed for people new to IT, so all you need is an interest in technology and a willingness to learn.
Candidates can achieve this certification by passing the following exam(s).
- FC0-U71
The FC0-U71 exam has a maximum of 70 multiple choice questions, runs for 60 minutes, and has a passing score of 650 on a scale of 100 to 900. No prior experience is required. The official exam fee is included in your course price.
The exam can be registered and attempted within three months of course or module completion at a Logitrain training centre, at a local Pearson VUE test centre, or online.

Is Tech+ the same as IT Fundamentals?
Yes. CompTIA renamed IT Fundamentals, also known as ITF+, to Tech+ and refreshed the content with the FC0-U71 exam. It is the same entry-level certification under a new name.
Which exam does this course prepare me for?
The current exam, FC0-U71. The older ITF+ exam, FC0-U61, is being phased out.
Do I need any experience to start?
No. Tech+ is designed for people new to IT, so no prior experience is required.
