Companies use computers that are connected to a network to run their businesses. This network enables companies to share resources and reduce expenses. Since, networks have become an invaluable part of the company structure, jobs in computer networking have become one of the fastest growing occupations in the computer field. Network specialists work in a wide variety of jobs including purchasing, installing, configuring, administration and user support.

Types of jobs in Networking includes :

Network Engineers

Network engineers design computer networks. They set up, test and evaluate LANs, WANs, internet and intranets in a system. Network engineers perform hardware and software solutions using network modeling, analysis and planning . They involve in installing several pieces of hardware, including routers and hubs. Network Administrators

Network administrators install and maintain network hardware and software. They analyze possible problems and monitor networks to make sure the systems remain available to users. They gather and evaluate data to check the performance of a network. They identify the needs of network users and determine network requirements. They maintain overall efficiency and security of the Network.

Database Administrators

Database administrators store, organize, analyze, use and present data work using the database management software. They identify user’s needs and integrate the data from old systems into a new system to set up new computer databases. They coordinate system changes when needed and troubleshoot problems. A database administrator must understand the database platform to make sure that the system runs smoothly.

Computer Security Specialists

Computer security specialists plan and maintain the information security of an organization. They monitor networks for security breaches and respond to cyber attacks using security software.

Telecommunications Specialists

Telecommunications specialists design voice, video and data communication systems. They work on the interaction between computers and communications equipment. They supervise installation of these systems and provide maintenance and customer support.

Web Developers

Web developers create website to meet the user’s needs using software to create applications for the web. They oversee the website’s production and implementation using web development software to integrate databases and other information systems.
