Importance of Certifications for Jobs in Australia

Jobs in Australia

Certifications and Degrees are very different and cannot be used in the same sense. Certification represents any course that we take up for a short duration of time and for a special skill. Degrees usually have a longer duration time and covers topics in depth. In most of the cases students who are done with their high school and want to get an academic degree would opt for a degree. But, for people who already have a degree, and those who are looking for some practical experience in a particular field or area rather than the overall area of the subject usually opt for certifications. Thirdly, the people who are time constrained goes for certification rather than a degree.

People wanting to switch careers end up taking  a certificate course that will serve a same purpose to pursuing a degree in shorter span of time. The importance of both certificate and degree basically depends on the type of job a candidate is looking for. If we are looking for a beauty career or a technical job like plumbing or electrician; a certification course may be sufficient to help us getting a job. But for professional environment like Banking or IT or Accounting, a minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree is expected. However, with many certifications being globally recognized and are more specific to a job role, companies have started prefering individuals with certifications rather than just having a degree. Even people who have graduated after completing a degree prefer to take up some certifications which are more specific to the field of work they prefer.
