Microsoft Exchange is an email server solution developed by Microsoft for corporate clients. In simple words, it is a software that runs on a server and manages email services like incoming, outgoing, saved, draft, and calendars. Earlier organizations used the POP3 email that managed email by collecting it and sending it to individual computers, for downloading that email onto each computer.
The problem was if one individual computer crashes, then the emails stored in that computer gets destroyed. Microsoft Exchange instead of handling your email and storing them in the computer manages and backs up the emails on the server. It is designed to centralize the emails into one database.
Benefits of Microsoft Exchange:
- Centralized Emails: The main feature of Exchange is to centralize and back up the information. It empowers users to have all their email data in one place and provides them with the flexibility to either retain the email in the inbox or archive them. It becomes easy to control the storage and compliance demands with flexible and strong retention policies while keeping the users productive.
- Eliminates Email Threats: It protects communications against email threats with built-in defenses like multi-layered anti-spam filtering and multiple anti-malware engines. This defenses protect them against sophisticated spam, phishing threats, and from viruses.
- Protects Sensitive Data: The Data Loss Prevention(DLP) a new feature of Exchange helps to identify, monitor, and protect critical data through deep content analysis.
- Easy to manage Compliance needs: To ensure internal and regulatory compliance across the organization, the data retainability and discovery needs to be immutable. With the help of the eDiscovery Center, the compliance officers are able to identify, hold, and analyze the organization’s data from Exchange, Lync, and SharePoint along with reducing the cost for managing complex compliance needs.
- Enables users to Collaborate on Projects: It allows users to manage teams, share information, and project communications with much ease. Users can be able to find their old communications on a project, current versions of teams document, and can access information from Outlook.
- Move to Cloud with Flexible Options: With the help of Exchange tools, you can either move all your information to the cloud or manage a hybrid deployment with mail on-premises and online to support your business needs.
- Customize Exchange by integrating Web-based Apps: Users can save time between switching apps when a single sign-on provides access to multiple applications securely and is designed to ensure that only authorized individuals will be able to use each approved application.
