Cisco Certified Network Associate 200-301 is the current variant of the CCNA exam conducted by Cisco. This is an online test of two hours having 102 multiple choice questions, and to pass the exam one has to score 825 marks out of 1000. The certification is valid for 3 years. This is the best certification available for beginners in the networking field. But as we can see that the pass percentage is high and the examination fee is high as well, therefore thorough preparation is required to clear the exam in the first attempt.
The best way to pass a test is to ace the subject, always start with the basics, and then move to the advanced levels only after the concepts are clear and the foundation is set. Nowadays, there are many platforms available to study for CCNA certification test, there are orthodox classrooms, online classrooms, webinars, traditional books, e-books, study groups – both online and conventional, and numerous videos and apps related to the subject. To understand this course better one should know what networking is, what are the various components of a network, and what is the functionality of those components. Once all this is clear, the implementation of the networks becomes easy. One more component that can prove to be highly beneficial for CCNA preparation is the Packet Tracer app. It enables you to have a hands-on experience of every networking component and create a lab environment to test your learning and practise various network templates. The best tip to prepare for CCNA could be to read about a few basic concepts before attending a lecture. One should know the basics about the different layers of a networking model (OSI and TCP/IP), IP addresses, subnet masks, different classes of addresses, classful and classless addresses. Once the fundamentals are clear we can start going through the topics on the test at our own pace, taking notes of important points. We should also familiarise ourselves with the command line of networking devices and practise as much as we can using the Packet Tracer. We must also brush our mathematical skills by working on the IP addresses and subnets. Being able to calculate, and assign, the right address and subnet mask to a networking device is one of the most important things while working on networks. And by practising, the speed to calculate will improve and you can do questions related to addressing on the test quickly.
Once you are done reading/learning the entire course, the next big thing is preparing for the actual test. The only way to prepare for the test is to take as many practice tests as possible. It will not only boost your confidence but, it will also improve your time management skills. The course guides come with practice questions and full-length practice tests, and one can also access practice material over the internet. Last, but not the least, tip to excel in the test is to have faith in yourself.
